At the most recent Convention of ACPA – College Student Educators International, I had the opportunity to present a PechaKucha-style presentation on residential curriculum and curricular approaches to student affairs work. In this video I discuss why we need a curricular approach, how the movement started, what curricular approaches entail, and how we can move this idea towards competency based certification. There are many possible implications for student learning.

What is PechaKucha?
PechaKucha is a specific style of presentation that originated in Japan that entails presentations of 20 slides, displayed for 20 seconds each, for a total presentation time of 6 minutes and forty seconds. Because the slides are set to automatically advance, the presentation is fast paced and presenters must stay on top of their timing to ensure the presentation flows smoothly.
